Academic Field Trips

In addition to on-campus activities, SummerBerg students also venture to off-campus destinations as part of their academic program. Students take a chartered bus from the Heidelberg campus to a nearby city such as Cleveland, Columbus, or Cincinnati. Once there, they organize into their class groups and spend a full day visiting destinations and participating in activities specifically related to their coursework.

Industrial Design students may visit a car manufacturing plant and meet with designers in their studios. Environmental Science students may visit Lake Eerie, study the eco-system of the great lakes, and collect samples to examine in the lab. Creative Writings students enjoy visiting magazine and publishing houses while Forensic Science students might meet with detectives and coroners. The trips are different each year, but they are always both educational and entertaining!
