FAQsFrequently Asked QuestionsWho will my roommate be?
I am flying to camp; can someone pick me up?Yes. The College offers its drivers and vehicles to pick up students at the Detroit Metro Airport (DTW). Students are escorted by a staff member. Details are in the welcome pack email, and travel information must be submitted online by June 1. What happens during free time?During free time, students may use the computer labs, swim in the pool, use the gym and track, play games, hang out, watch a movie, read, or rest. Students can also participate in organized fun! The resident advisors never lack for ideas for afternoon activities. After dinner, students participate in organized evening activities to round out each day. May I bring my laptop or cell phone?Students may bring their cell phones, however we do implement a strict cell phone use policy. We do this for two reasons: cell phone use can be disruptive to the academic environment and can prevent students from connecting with those surrounding them on-campus. Students may take cell phones on all off-campus trips, to provide an extra level of safety. Students and parents may reach each other at any time, 24-hours a day, through the program office and security office phone numbers. Students may not bring personal laptops to the program but may use the labs for email. What is the student profile, and what else is in the welcome pack email? The student profile consists of a series of questions about each student and is designed to help our staff to develop activities, devise coursework, and generally create a community tailored to the needs and personalities of our students. Student profiles are to be completed online no later than June 1. In addition to the link for your student profile, the welcome pack email includes important program information and an attached PDF with forms that must be filled out and presented to the designated SummerBerg staff member on registration day. Other information includes a Suggested Packing List, Directions and Accommodations, and a Student Physical Form. How well supervised are the students?Safety is our top priority. Throughout the day, students are offered a variety of supervised activities. With a staff of experienced, highly trained teachers and mentors, SummerBerg provides the necessary supervision to ensure the safety and well being of our students at all times. |
