Computer Science Workshops

Computer skills are critical to success in today’s world. Our game design course combines computer science theory and linear thinking with practical skills in animation and game design. This class is designed to help students to become proficient in Flash, one of the most widely used applications for web design. We help raise the level of skill and ability in Flash for each and every student, and this course offers invaluable tools for anyone who enjoys and uses computer technologies.

Weeks 1 and 2
HTML, Flash and Web Design Flash is the number one web product in use in the world. Knowing how to design and develop Flash applications is not only critical for modern students, but it is lots of fun! In addition to teaching the tips and tricks of Flash and HTML coding, we guide students through designing well thought-out websites, using process flows and storyboards. We combine instruction in design, Flash and HTML to help students create professional-looking web sites and applications.

Weeks 3 and 4
Game Design This course covers the topic of game design by teaching students how to story board concepts for their own games. Our goal is to use the game design course as a way to discuss broader topics, such as non-linear thinking, programming languages, and computer software design. As part of this course, we will discuss design for different gaming platforms, including PCs, Wii, Playstation, and Xbox, and other consoles.
