Academic Programs
Learning is at the heart of every SummerBerg experience. We maintain a natural and project-based
approach to classroom learning, encouraging students to engage directly with ideas and knowledge
though discussion and participation.
Our programs enhance learning through a combination of in-class instruction, group projects,
hands-on experiences, and off-campus field trips. Academically, all that we ask of our students is that
they try their hardest and actively participate in class discussions and activities. Students are not given
grades or tests, but rather are evaluated and supported by teachers on a one-on-one basis. Small class
sizes and individualized instruction ensure that no student feels ignored or lost. Project-based coursework
is designed to be suitable for each student’s learning style and personal needs.
SummerBerg’s instructors are typically graduate students who are pursuing advanced degrees in
their respective academic fields. We work hard to find talented, experienced individuals who are personable,
engaging, and capable of communicating clearly with students of all ages. Our teachers shape
the curricula according to students’ interests and needs; they also often work together to combine their
areas of expertise to promote learning across disciplines. For example, Toy and Entertainment students
may collaborate with the Game Design students to make the ultimate computer game.
Our goal is for students to return to school mentally refreshed and inspired to make the most of
their upcoming year. Our programs help students communicate more clearly, think outside the box, and
solve problems creatively. We challenge and support our students so they may emerge from the program
with a new perspective on the world, and with a greater understanding of their own capabilities.
