TIFFIN - Heidelberg College is partnering with a Fort Wayne, Ind., architecture and engineering firm to begin preliminary work on a new recreation and wellness facility on campus.
The Board of Trustees voted to hire Design Collaborative Inc., a firm with expertise in designing facilities for higher education institutions, according to Stephen Storck, vice president for administration and CFO at Heidelberg.
The initial phase of the Design Collaborative's work will involve collecting input from stakeholders to determine the college's requirements and desires for the new facility, Storck said. Next, the firm will create a schematic design for the new facility.
Storck emphasized that these are the earliest steps in an extensive planning and construction process.
In addition to the Design Collaborative's recreation facility projects, the firm also has completed student housing projects, classroom facilities and student centers. Recently completed projects include a wellness and recreation center and sports complex at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind., a football stadium at the University of St. Francis and a student services complex at Indiana Purdue University, both in Fort Wayne.
"The team from the Design Collaborative brings great energy, expertise and enthusiasm to this project," Storck said. "We look forward to working with them as we move forward on a project we believe will have a positive impact on the student experience and our entire campus community."
