Heidelberg musicians return for busy fall

TIFFIN - An exciting mix of recitals and concerts will highlight the 2006 Heidelberg College Department of Music's fall schedule of events.

Pianist Margery Whatley will be featured in a guest recital on Friday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 1, Heidelberg faculty will be showcased in the annual Faculty Gala at 3 p.m.

Throughout the fall season, college musicians and singers team up with community members for a variety of events. On Sept. 16, the combined pep band will strutt their stuff in the annual Heritage Festival parade. The Heidelberg College-Community Orchestra takes the stage on Friday, Nov. 3 at Trinity UCC with conductor Barbara Specht. On Nov. 11, Trinity UCC will be filled with song when Eva Kwan conducts the Heidelberg College-Community Chorus. Those looking to whet their appetite for jazz will groove with the tunes when the Heidelberg Jazz Ensemble, conducted by John E. Owen, presents its fall concert Nov. 18. Owen is back to conduct in December when the Heidelberg Symphonic Band performs Dec. 3.

No Christmas season at Heidelberg would be complete without the traditional performance of Handel's Messiah, this year presented Dec. 10 at Seiberling Gymnasium. The holiday/fall season is capped off on Dec. 16 with
the TubaChristmas concert at the Tiffin Mall.
