Andersons exec to speak at Heidelberg graduation

TIFFIN - Daniel T. Anderson, president of the Retail Group for the Maumee-based The Andersons Inc., a diversified agribusiness and retailing company, will address Heidelberg College graduates during commencement next month.

Heidelberg President F. Dominic Dottavio has announced that Anderson - also a friend of higher education - will be the keynote speaker for the May 13 commencement ceremony. He will receive an honorary doctor of humane letters degree.

Anderson joined the company in 1979, working as an operations manager at the grain elevator facilities in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. In 1984, he moved to the Retail Group as operations manager and store manager, later earning a promotion to Group Operations Manager and Retail Group General Merchandise Manager. In 1996, he was named president of the Retail Group, one of the company's four operating groups.

Anderson is active in his community as well, serving in leadership roles with the Toledo Area Boy scouts of America, The Toledo Area United Way, Family House, The American Red Cross and 4-H and FFA. Additionally, he is a president of the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges and has been associated with that organization since 1996.

A 1979 graduate of The Ohio State University, Anderson and his wife, Lynn, are the parents of eight children.
