TIFFIN - Heidelberg College's chapter of the national theatre honorary, Alpha Psi Omega, and the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts announce the upcoming production of Neil Simon's Fools, to open Wednesday (Feb. 21) at 7:30 p.m.
Set in the small village of Kulyenchikov, Russia in the early 1800s, Fools is a light-hearted romantic comedy. A 200-year curse of stupidity has the town in a state of confusion, to say the very least. Leon Tolchinsky, a young schoolteacher, comes to the village and immediately falls in love with Sophia Zubritsky, only to learn that if he fails to educate her, he too will fall victim to the curse. With a series of twists and turns, Fools takes its audience on a hilarious journey as Leon commits to outsmarting the town and its curse.
Fools is co-directed by senior students David Turner and Seth Carey. Playing the leading roles of Leon Tolchinsky and Sophia Zubritsky are freshmen Dan Reichart and Emily Dages. The cast also includes Brian Biller as Dr. Zubritsky, professor Amy Berger as Lenya Zubritsky, Keenan Jones as Count Gregor, Jessica Rigsby as Yencha, Chris Nelson as Miskin, Chris Foster as Slovitch, Nathan Garner as Snetsky and Clint Stocker as the Magistrate.
Fools will take place in Gundlach Theater Feb. 21 through Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. Adults are admitted for $5, students and senior citizens are admitted for $4. Heidelberg students are admitted free with a college ID. For information, contact the theatre box office at 419-448-2305. |
