The three staff physicians are board-certified in family practice medicine. One of the doctors is available at the Health Center every morning, Monday - Friday. Students must register between 7:30-8:00 AM. to be examined by the staff physician. A staff nurse will be in the Health Center to provide first aid, over-the-counter drugs or give instructions for care from 7:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday.

Emergency Room Services

Students are encouraged to go to the Stoner Health Center during open hours for non-emergency medical care versus the Emergency Care Center. The Emergency Care Center of Mercy Hospital-Tiffin (485 W. Market St.), about two miles West of the campus, provides 24-hour coverage. Non-emergency visits may not be covered by health insurance.

Drugs

Health Center Supplies are charged to the student's account every December and May. Insurance/drug cards cannot be used at the Health Center. Students may have prescriptions filled at the local pharmacy.

Articles on loan, which are not returned, (e.g. crutches) will be charged to the student's account.

Physical Examinations

The Stoner Health Center is unable to provide student physical examinations for graduate school, pre-employment, and foreign travel or athletics. Students anticipating the need for physical exams should arrange to have them done during academic breaks.

All students, residential and commuter, expecting to receive care at the Health Center must have a completed medical history on-file at the Health Center. All full-time undergraduate students are eligible for care and treatment at the Health Center regardless of their health insurance coverage. Students may purchase health insurance through Heidelberg College. All claims can be processed at the Health Center while school is in session.

Only students involved in athletics must have an annual physical exam completed by a family physician prior to athletic participation. This form must be on file at Stoner Health Center before participation.

Medical History, insurance claims and physical examination forms are available on the Heidelberg College web site at www2.heidelberg.edu/offices/student/affairs/health.html
