Welcome to Heidelberg College. What a long way we've come from our first classes in 1850 when we opened our doors in a commercial building in downtown Tiffin.
Through the decades, however, we've maintained our commitment to provide a quality education that leads our graduates to lives of purpose with distinction. Today, we offer a rigorous curriculum and an array of extracurricular activities that we believe provide our students with an excellent, well-rounded academic experience. We encourage our students to become engaged, not only in the Heidelberg community, but our local community as well, and a majority of them take advantage of this opportunity to make a difference.
The basis of a Heidelberg education is to prepare students for meaningful careers or graduate school, teach them to communicate clearly, think outside the box and solve problems with creativity and effectiveness. Our faculty and staff are committed to these tenets every day.
A few other highlights about Heidelberg:
- Through our new forensic science in biology program, you'll learn there's more to forensic science than crime scene investigations. As a student in this program, you could pursue a career in criminal labs or DNA processing lab, the medical profession or law school.
- Our Center for Historic and Military Archaeology is one of very few programs of its kind that offer students hands-on study in this field. Academic research and experiential learning will come to life when you examine history by participating in excavations at Johnson's Island Civil War Prison site.
- As a student-athlete, you'll be part of the prestigious Ohio Athletic Conference, one of three athletic conferences in the nation that are 100 years old. Since its founding in 1902, OAC has maintained its focus of “student” before “athlete,” although that doesn't diminish the spirit of competition on the field of play.
- Many of our students major in education, and we have a nearly 100 percent passing rate among our graduates who test for their teaching license.
- You will get to know your professors in a meaningful way outside the classroom. They serve as advisors and mentors, teachers and coaches. And they are interested in your success.
Heidelberg is all of these things, but most of all, we are a tight-knit community.
We can tell you what a special place Heidelberg is, but the best way to learn about what we have to offer is to visit our campus.
