Bonds evolved at Heidelberg College enable men and women of different races, cultures, ethnic groups, and religions to partake in the world community's search for improved citizenship, sustainable development, and peace between and within countries |
The Heidelberg English Language Institute provides English language study to students whose native language is not English. English proficiency is tested, and they are placed in instructional-level courses on the basis of the test. Students can receive as many as 12 hours of credit in HELI. The institute offers language instruction at the intermediate and advanced levels throughout the year. A conversation partner program allows international students to converse with an American student to improve their pronunciation of the English language. The Community International Resource Center at Heidelberg was initiated in 1986 to stimulate community interest and international awareness. CIRCAH provides to the community the services of a speakers bureau and a resource collection of teaching kits on various countries, designed for instruction of all age levels, and annually hosts an international day each spring for area sixth-graders |
