Because a positive image is vital to the success of Heidelberg College, publications produced by or for Heidelberg or that include the college’s name as a sponsor or endorsee and are to be distributed to off-campus constituents require prior approval by the Office of Communication and Marketing. Off-campus constituents include but are not limited to prospective students, high school counselors, alumni, and donors. Meeting with the Director of Communication and Marketing in a planning stage of a publication is recommended. Publications for on-campus constituents do not require prior approval from the Office of Communication and Marketing. Student publications, including The Kilililik, Aurora yearbook, and Morpheus literary magazine are produced entirely independent of the Office of Communication and Marketing and are exempted from this policy. A publication is defined as any printed or copied material, including but not limited to newsletters, brochures, postcards, posters, invitations, advertisements, and fliers used for recruiting, fund raising, or event publicity. The college web site has a separate policy. Publications must include a statement that identifies the name of the department that created the piece, such as "Produced by the Office of Communication and Marketing." All publications to external audiences must include one of the official college logo. Athletic publications must include the "Berg" or "Student Prince" logos. Further explanation regarding the use of the college identity system is available in the Graphic Identity Guidelines manual in the Office of Communication and Marketing. Adherence to the guidelines will ensure that college publications provide a distinctive identity. Entities outside Heidelberg College may not reproduce college logos without express written consent of Heidelberg College. Contact the Office of Communication and Marketing for more information.
