| Alston, Lt. Col. Robert | Gen. Morgan's adjutant and occasional editor of the Vidette, the field newspaper of Morgan's Raiders. Carried a flag of truce to the defenders of Lebanon, Ky. |
| Bennett, Jacob C. | Acquired a shovel while in prison, used to escape from the Ohio Penitentiary with Gen. Morgan. |
| Bowles, Lt. Col. James W. | Commander of the 2nd Kentucky Cavalry, unable to participate in the Great Raid. |
| Bowles, Dr.William A. | Leader of the Copperheads in Indiana, visited early in the raid by Thomas Hines to ascertain the potential of other copperheads revolting against their state government during the raid. |

| Duke, Basil | Former member of the Kentucky legislature, second-in-command to Gen. Morgan and commander of the 1st Brigade. Husband to Morgan's sister Henrietta. |
| Eastin, Lt. George | Commanded a detachment that carried out diversionary movements to the east of Louisville. |
| Ellsworth, George "Lightening" | Canadian telegraph operator under Gen. Morgan's command. |
| Enfield Rifle | The weapon of choice, especially with the barrel cut off, of Morgan's Raiders. |
| Glencoe | Gen. Morgan's thoroughbred gelding, received from Kentucky horse breeder Keene Richards. After Morgan's capture by Rue, Glencoe was taken by Shackleford and presented to Gen. Winfield Scott. |

| Hobson, Gen. Edward Henry | Commanded the 2nd Brigade, Department of the Ohio. Pursued Gen. Morgan during the Great Raid, but later surrendered to Morgan at Cynthiana, Ky., in June 1864. |
| Ingomar | One of two Union transports that ferried the prisoners from Buffington Island to Cincinnati. |

| Johnson's Island | Federal military prison in Sandusky Bay to which the officers captured at Buffington Island were sent, including Duke and Hines. They were at Johnson's Island for four days before being sent to the federal penitentiary at Columbus. |

| Rue, Maj. George W. | Of the Ninth Federal Kentucky Cavalry, accepted Gen. Morgan's surrender near West Point, Ohio. |
| Shackleford, Brig. Gen. James Murrell | Commanded the 1st Brigade, Army of the Ohio. Claimed he accepted surrender of Gen. Morgan at the end of the Great Raid. |
| Tod, Gov. David | Governor of Ohio who insisted Gen. Morgan and his officers were criminals rather than prisoners of war and sent them to the Ohio Penitentiary. |
| Wallace, Gen. Lew | Took command of Federal troops in Indianapolis during the raid. |
| Way, Maj. W.B. | Commander of the 9th Michigan Cavalry. With Rue, joined in the pursuit at Mingo on the last day of the raid. |
| Wolford, Col. Frank Lane | Commanded 1st Kentucky Cavalry, men from the 2nd and 7th Ohio Cavalry and 45th Ohio Mounted Infantry. Met the raiders crossing the Cumberland River. Pursued raiders to eventual capture point in Ohio. |
