buckle1 buckle2The heat and humidity seemed to melt away on Sunday when, just before noon, Dave Boyd detected and Larry Hamilton recovered a small belt plate.
field1 Tom Garvin and a volunteer from the Meigs County Pioneer and Historical Society recovered a series of Spencer carbine bullets, large caliber Minie balls and pistol slugs.
field2 After sampling the cornfield by detecting a series of transects, areas of artifact concentration were investigated by intensive survey of a series of 50' x 50' grid squares. Each square was surveyed by two different types of detectors and along two different axes.
field3 Keith Bailey and a Meigs County volunteer examine one of the artifacts recovered from a pasture field.
