Updates from the field, May 31, 1999

	Memorial Day morning found the detector/recovery crews examining a grid in a corn field.
	One of the detector/recovery crews,Keith Bailey and Kelly Hockersmith, proudly pose above one of their morning finds, a Minie ball.
	This Minie ball, an Enfield variant, was probably fired by the Confederate forces.
	Thanks to the Meigs County Pioneer and Historical Society for a picnic lunch in the Buffington Island Battlefield Park.
	Area residents have shared a wealth of information about the past and present of the Buffington Island area.
	Our constant companions, the cicadas, are always watching the progress of the Buffington Island Battlefield survey.
