Heidelberg College is grateful for the many ways in which alumni have contributed to the life of the college. Beginning in 1971 the college recognized prominent alumni with the awarding of the Alumni Citation which was presented at the annual Alumni Day luncheon during Alumni Weekend. In an effort to recognize more Heidelberg College alumni in a more specific manner the alumni awards program was expanded in 2001. The revised awards program features five new awards that are presented during the course of the year at designated events. The new awards program will allow all alumni to have greater participation in the nomination and selection process.

Nomination forms can be obtained by contacting the Alumni Office or by downloading in .pdf format or as a Word document. The form will open in Acrobat Reader which can be down loaded for free at Acrobat.

Outstanding Alumni Award

(formerly known as the Alumni Citation)

The Heidelberg College Outstanding Alumni Award presented annually at the Alumni Day Luncheon during Alumni Weekend is awarded to an alumnus/a in recognition of lifetime accomplishments and contributions to profession community and society at large. This is considered to be the highest alumni award.

Alumni Service Award

The Heidelberg College Alumni Service Award presented annually at the Alumni Day Luncheon during Alumni Weekend is awarded to an alumnus/a who has made important contributions to Heidelberg College and/or the Heidelberg Alumni Association through years of dedicated service. This service is defined as contributions to the existence the perpetuation and the enhancement of Heidelberg College and/or the Heidelberg Alumni Association.

Legacy Family Award

The Heidelberg College Legacy Family Award presented annually at the Alumni Day Luncheon during Alumni Weekend is awarded to a Legacy Family in recognition of years of faithful and loyal service to Heidelberg College. A family that either encompasses two or more generations of Heidelberg alumni or that includes three or more members in one generation among Heidelberg's alumni is considered to be a legacy.

Young Alumni Achievement Award

The Heidelberg College Young Alumni Achievement Award presented during Homecoming festivities in the Fall is awarded to the alumnus/a who has demonstrated leadership abilities and achieved distinction in his/her respective field of employment and/or service to humankind. This award will be presented to an alumnus/a who has already celebrated his/her five-year class reunion but who has not celebrated more that his/her fifteen-year class reunion.

This award will be presented to alumnus/a who is mid-career and has celebrated at least his/her 15-year class reunion.
