Gifts to Endowment

Memorial Gifts perpetuate the memory of a particular person or group with the gift of an endowed scholarship, or a memorial which will financially assist students or faculty and advance teaching and learning at the college.

Scholarships are awarded for superior high school academics to incoming full-time freshman and/or college transfer students.

Endowed Scholarships

Endowed scholarships begin with contributions of $25,000 or more paid over a period of one, two, or three years. The donation enters Heidelberg College's permanent endowment with portion of the annual yield used for the award each year. Excess earnings are added to the principal for growth. The donor may define criteria for each scholarship, e.g. for a senior in financial need in the music department or freshman majoring in biology and from a UCC church in Ohio, etc.

Endowed scholarships are recognized annually in the College Catalog.

Named Prizes

Named prizes are cash awards made to a deserving and qualified student. They are similar to endowed scholarships; however, they begin with an initial investment of $10,000. A portion of the interest earned would be rolled back into the principal along with future donations until the total reaches the named scholarship level ($25,000).

Named prizes are listed annually in the College Catalog.

Bequests, Trusts, Estates, Gifts of Life Insurance

Planned giving opportunities abound and are advantageous to both the donor and the College. They range from wills to trusts to life insurance policies. They are recognized annually in the Annual Donor Report. Please contact the college for further information.

These are just a few of the examples of how gifts may be made to Heidelberg College. If you would like more information, please contact the Directory of Legacy Gifts or the staff of the Development Office.
