Dr. Steven Velasquez

Dr. Velasquez has been a faculty member at Heidelberg College since 1993. He has received the following academic degrees:

  • Ph.D. in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Virginia
         Dissertation: The Electronic Structure of Carbon and its Allotropes as determined by Soft X-ray Emission Spectroscopy
  • B.S. in Mathematics from Lousiana State University
  • B.S. in Physics from Louisiana State University

Extracurricular Activities

  • Martial Arts - black belts is Uechi-ryu (Okinawan) Karate, Judo, & Jiu-jitsu
  • Ballroom & Latin Dancing - 3 x Gold Medalist (with wife, Linda Stine) at US Amatuer National Championships
