Mission Statement
The Heidelberg College Athletic Training Education Program (HCATEP) is strongly committed to providing an excellent academic and clinical education for Athletic Training majors. HCATEP believes that the clinical experiences of a student should supplement a solid, but challenging, Athletic Training core curriculum. The core curriculum is based upon the required subject matter meeting CAAHEP Standards and with the 1999 NATA Athletic Training Education Competencies and Clinical Proficiencies. Heidelberg College ATEP is committed to fostering an open learning environment both in the classroom and clinical settings. It is our intent that the student will become confident and comfortable in the learning process and the application of skills mastered through didactic and clinical preparation. It is our philosophy to instill a strong ethical and moral ideology in an effort to encourage professionalism as well as personal growth. Students are encouraged to embrace diversity in one another and in the active population they will be working with on a daily basis. HCATEP firmly supports combining a high level of professionalism with strong interpersonal skills in order to generate trust and open communication among the faculty, staff, peers, and clientele. Our program aims to promote a natural curiosity and love of learning in our students. The program is designed to expose students to various allied health professions and encourage the pursuit of continued education and research, including but not limited to Master level programs in Athletic training or related fields. Heidelberg College ATEP is designed to prepare the athletic training student for the certification process administered by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification as well as a career as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Upon completion of the HCATEP, the student will be recommended for a Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training. HEIDLEBERG COLLEGE ATEP GOALS and OBJECTIVES
