Depinet Has Record-Setting Outing At 49er Classic

Freshman Jamie Depinet (New Riegel, Ohio / New Riegel) of the Heidelberg College women’s track and field team continued her dominance in the sprints from the indoor track to the outdoor surface. Depinet set a new school record in the 200 and 400-meter dashes at the Charlotte 49er Classic hosted by the UNC-Charlotte March 16-17, 2007.

Depinet crossed the finish line in the 200-meter dash in 26.17, eclipsing the previous school record of 26.26 set by Brenda Weaver in 1991. In the 400-meter dash, Depinet set a new school record at 58.55, topping the previous mark of 58.90 set by Casey Adams in 2006.

On the indoor track this past winter, Depinet set a new school record in the 400-meter dash at 59.19 and was also a member of the school record indoor 4x200 and 4x400-meter relay teams.

Also performing well in Charlotte was sophomore Tabitha Grim (Sullivan, Ohio / Black River) with an 18th place finish in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 20:05.72. Rounding out top-25 finishes at the predominately Division I outing was the 4x100-meter relay team of Jessica Smith (Lorain, Ohio / Admiral King), Angela Zellner (Twinsburg, Ohio / Twinsburg), Depinet and Nikki Jones (Fremont, Ohio / Hopewell Loudon) and shot putter Jessica Peters (DeGraff, Ohio / Indian Lake). The quartet stood 15th (50.95), while Peters finished 24th (34'1.5").
