Women’s Tennis Picks Up OAC Win Over Muskingum The Heidelberg College women’s tennis team took an early 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles play en route to a 7-2 Ohio Athletic Conference win at Muskingum College. The win improved Heidelberg to 6-8 overall and 3-5 in the OAC, while the Muskies fall to 3-11 and 1-7.
The duo of Tina Dodson (Clyde, Ohio / Clyde) and Amanda Hanning (Galion, Ohio / Galion) got things started with a hard fought 9-8 (7-5) win at first doubles. Picking up an 8-2 win at second doubles was Meghan Michaels (Fremont, Ohio / Fremont Ross) and Morgan Harrigan (Urbana, Ohio / Urbana), while the combination of Maryann Fremion (Huron, Ohio / Huron) and Dawn Neumeyer (Parma, Ohio / Parma) won 8-2 at third doubles.
Hanning opened the scoring up in singles play for Heidelberg with a 6-3, 6-1 win at second singles. Following Hanning was Harrigan with a straight-set 6-2, 6-2 win at third singles. Neumeyer and Fremion rounded out the scoring for the Berg with straight-set victories at fifth and sixth singles, respectively. Neumeyer won 6-2, 6-1, while Fremion was victorious 6-0, 6-1.
Heidelberg returns to action at Otterbein April 21. Match is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
