Baldwin-Wallace Defeats Heidelberg 3-0

The Heidelberg College women’s soccer team fell to the visiting Yellow Jackets 3-0 in a contest that saw two lightning delays.

The Yellow Jackets improve to 9-4 on the season and 3-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference play while the Berg falls to 3-10 and 0-4 in conference play.

Heidelberg put the pressure on the Yellow Jackets early, beginning the game with a shot by freshman Alison Marty (Amherst, Ohio / Marion L. Steele) and a corner kick.

Baldwin-Wallace managed two goals right before the rain delay in the 33rd minute. Whitney Zunich scored a goal on a pass from Melissa Herd at the 21:20 mark while Jenny Miller capitalized on a penalty kick sick minutes later.

The Yellow Jackets put the game away at the 68:03 mark when Stephanie Geiger scored on Herd’s second assist of the game. Baldwin-Wallace outshot Heidelberg 24-6, including 12-2 in shots on goal.

In goal for Heidelberg, senior Samantha Pawlak (Willoughby, Ohio / South) tallied nine saves on 12 shots faced. Pawlak falls to 1-7 on the season.

Heidelberg returns to action Saturday when they travel to Columbus, Ohio, to take on Capital. Game time is set for 10:30 a.m.
