Amanda Campbell Named OAC Women's Basketball Player Of The Week

Junior guard Amanda Campbell (Pataskala, Ohio / Watkins Memorial) of the Heidelberg College women's basketball team has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of November 27, 2006.

Campbell helped to lead Heidelberg to a thanksgiving week double overtime victory at Lake Erie College Nov. 21. Campbell hit a jumper at the buzzer in the second overtime against Lake Erie to extend Heidelberg's winning streak to three games with a 64-63 victory. Campbell recorded her eighth career double-double with a game-high 22 points and 12 rebounds.

For the season, Campbell leads the Berg in scoring with 17.0 points per game, in rebounding with 8.5 boards per outing and in steals with 11.

Since Campbell was named the OAC Player of the Week Heidelberg has topped host Ohio Wesleyan, 62-47, to stand at 4-0 on the young season. It is the second-straight season that the Berg has opened up with four-straight victories. The Berg, under the guidance of 19th-year head coach Karen McConnell, opens its 2006-07 home and OAC slate against Wilmington Dec. 2. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 p.m.
