Volleyball Falls In First Round Of OAC Tournament The Heidelberg College volleyball team suffered a hard fought 3-0 (30-17, 30-26, 30-28) setback to host Ohio Northern University in the opening round of the 2006 Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament. Heidelberg entered the tournament as the number eight seed, while the Polar Bears owned the top seed. The setback concludes the Berg’s 2006 season with an overall record of 22-15. The 22 wins by the Berg marks the third most in the history of the program and is a single-season high for seventh-year head coach Jason Miller. Leading the way against the Polar Bears was Laurie Patrick (Bellevue, Ohio / Bellevue) with 10 kills followed by seven courtesy of Emily Hurlburt (St. Mary’s, Ohio / Memorial). Freshman setter Morgan Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort) recorded her eighth double-double on the season, finishing with 31 assists and 12 digs. The reigning OAC Player of the Week, Megan Kempf (Olmsted Twp., Ohio / St. Joseph’s) led five with double-digit digs with 34. Kendra Orwig (Castalia, Ohio / Margaretta) followed Kempf with 16 and Kristy Bollenbacher (Huron, Ohio / Huron) and Tracy Sutter (Miamisburg, Ohio / Miamisburg) each tallied 10 digs apiece.
