Megan Kempf Named OAC Volleyball Player Of the Week

Senior libero Megan Kempf (Olmsted Twp., Ohio / St. Joseph’s) of the Heidelberg College volleyball team has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 30, 2006.

In a 5-2 week for the Berg, Kempf led the way with 194 digs and was second on the team with 12 service aces. Kempf has led the Berg in digs in every match this season and has strung together a 36-match double-digit dig streak.

Kempf opened the week with a career-high 66 dig performance in a 3-2 win at Otterbein. The 66 digs is a match high across all divisions this season.

On Thursday in a tri-match split at cross town rival Tiffin, Kempf finished the evening with 52 digs, including 31 against Tiffin.

Kempf helped to lead the Berg to a 3-1 showing at the Centre College Tournament to round out its 2006 regular season slate last weekend. Through four matches, Kempf finished with 76 digs and six service aces over the two-day tournament, earning a nod on the all-tournament team.

For the season, Kempf has tallied 932 digs to own team-honors, while ranking second on the team with 44 service aces. Earlier in the season, Kempf set a new career record for digs which now stands at 2,434 and overtook the top spot for single-season digs which is 932. Within the OAC, she ranks third in digs per game (7.34) and stands 11th in the nation in digs per game.
