Volleyball Closes Mt. St. Joseph's Tournament With 3-1 Win Over Centre

The Heidelberg College volleyball team closed out action at the Mount St. Joseph's Tournament with a 3-1 (24-30, 30-14, 30-16, 30-28) win over Centre College on Saturday. The win improves the Berg’s overall record to 14-6.

Leading the way was the junior - sophomore middle hitter duo of Laurie Patrick (Bellevue, Ohio / Bellevue) and Emily Hurlburt (St. Mary’s, Ohio / Memorial) with 17 kills apiece. The 17 kills courtesy of Hurlburt was a career-high which surpassed her previous career-high of 14 that she set in the match prior to Centre. Junior Whitney Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort) added 10 kills, which rounded out three with double-figure kills in the win.

Freshman setter Morgan Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort) dished out 52 assists, while senior libero Megan Kempf (Olmsted twp., Ohio / St. Joseph’s) led the Berg defense with 29 digs.
