Heidelberg Volleyball Releases 2006 Schedule

The Heidelberg College volleyball team, under the guidance of seventh-year head coach Jason Miller, announced the release of its 2006 schedule today. The Berg is slated to play a 36-match schedule with six contests to be played at Sieberling Gymnasium, the home of Heidelberg volleyball.

Heidelberg is scheduled to participate in five separate tournaments beginning at the Capital Tournament Sept. 1-2. The Berg opens its season versus Allegheny (Sept. 1) and will also face West Liberty, Wooster and DePauw in the season opening tournament.

Before moving to another tournament, the Berg opens its home slate against Defiance Sept. 5. Following its match with Defiance the Berg will travel to the Baldwin-Wallace Tournament (Sept. 8-9) and the DePauw Tournament (Sept. 15-16).

Heidelberg opens up Ohio Athletic Conference action with a two-match home stand beginning with Mount Union (Sept. 19), followed by Muskingum (Sept. 23). The Berg is also slated to host OAC foes Wilmington (Oct. 7) and Ohio Northern (Oct. 17) with a non-conference match with Case Western Reserve (Oct. 7) sandwiched in the middle.

Mixed in the middle of the home contests with Muskingum and Wilmington are conference road trips to Capital (Sept. 26) and Baldwin-Wallace (Oct. 3) and action at the Mount St. Joe Tournament (Sept. 29-30).

Rounding out the later part of the 2006 schedule is OAC tilts at John Carroll (Oct. 10), Marietta (Oct. 21) and Otterbein (Oct. 24), along with non-conference matches with Wittenberg (Oct. 14), Denison (Oct. 14), Urbana (Oct. 21), Tiffin (Oct. 26) and Concordia (Oct. 26).

In final preparation for the OAC Tournament the Berg will travel to Danville, Ky. to take part in the Centre College Tournament (Oct. 28-29).

Heidelberg finished 2005 with an overall record of 17-16 and a 3-6 mark in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Berg made its 14th trip to the OAC Tournament this past season and fourth-consecutive with Miller at the helm.
