Volleyball Earns Fall 2006 Scholar-Athlete Team Award The Heidelberg College volleyball team, under the guidance of head coach Jason Miller, earned the Scholar-Athlete Team Award for the fall of 2006. The Scholar-Athlete Awards Program is made possible by the William E. Landess Fund and the volleyball team posted a 3.55 team grade point average to top all Heidelberg fall sports teams.
The program recognizes those student-athletes who excel in the classroom while participating in a varsity sport. The award goes to those who maintain a grade point average above 3.0 during their semester of competition, while the Scholar-Athlete Team Award is presented to the team that achieves the highest team gpa.
In the fall 2006 semester 93 student-athletes earned the Scholar-Athlete Award. On the volleyball team 15 players earned the award. Of the 15 award winners, four players earned perfect 4.00 gpa’s. Leading the way for the volleyball team was junior education majors Kristy Bollenbacher (Huron, Ohio / Huron), Whitney Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort) and Kendra Orwig (Castalia, Ohio / Margaretta), as well as sophomore Spanish student Rebekah Rowland (Westerville, Ohio / North).
