Curry's Double Forces Split At Notre Dame (OH) Freshman catcher Katie Curry (Delaware, Ohio / Buckeye Valley) of the Heidelberg College softball team pinch hit in the seventh inning and knocked a three-run double to erase a 3-1 Heidelberg deficit to Notre Dame College. The Berg held the Falcons scoreless in its final at bat to earn the 4-3 win in game two of a doubleheader in South Euclid, Ohio. The Falcons won the opener 5-3. With the split Heidelberg currently stands at 6-30 overall, while the Falcons boast an overall record of 21-9. In the night cap, Crystal Killoran (South Euclid, Ohio / Brush) led the seventh inning off with a single and two batters later Rachael Everhart (Hunstville, Ohio / Indian Lake) singled up the middle. With two outs and two runners on base, Barbara Kendeigh (Oberlin, Ohio / Firelands) pinch hit and earned a base on balls, which set up Curry's bases loaded double that score the eventual game-winning run. In game one, Heidelberg scored two runs in its first at bat, but gave up four to Notre Dame in the bottom of the first and could not recover in the 5-3 setback. Leaders on the day were Killoran with three hits, while Curry led the way with three RBI. Earning the win on the mound was Katherine Allenspach (Aurora, Ohio / Aurora), pitching a complete game and gave up 11 hits. Heidelberg returns to Ohio Athletic Conference action Wednesday when it entertains Otterbein College in a 3:30 p.m. match up at Mayer Field. Wednesday’s doubleheader will mark the final home contests for Everhart, the lone senior on the 2007 roster.
