Heidelberg Falls To Capital

The Heidelberg College softball team suffered a doubleheader setback to Capital University today at Mayer Field.  Capital took game one 9-1 in six innings and game two 3-1.  The sweep moves Capital to 18-10 overall and 7-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while Heidelberg drops to 3-21 and 0-8 in the OAC.

In game one Capital jumped out to a 7-0 lead on seven hits after the first two innings.  The Berg scored its only run of the game in the fourth after Coree Price (Prospect, Ohio / North Union) doubled to lead off the inning and two batters later Ashley Foust (Aurora, Ohio / Aurora) hit a double of her own to score Price.  Capital scored two more runs in the sixth to finish the game off.

In game two Capital took an early 3-0 lead.  Heidelberg cut its deficit to two after Andrea Gerdeman (Ottawa, Ohio / Ottawa-Glandorf) doubled to start inning four and scored two batters later on a Capital error.  However this was the only run that the Berg would score.

Leading the way for the Tricolor today was Price with three hits and Foust and Jennifer Kerman (Willowick, Ohio / Regina) with two hits apiece.
