Tyson, Jr. Selected To Jump Amongst Nation’s Elite Heidelberg College junior Greg Tyson, Jr. (Lima, Ohio / Lima Senior) of the men’s track and field team has been invited to attend the 2007 Drake Relays hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa April 26-28. College and universities from all four corners of the United States will compete in the 98th running of the Drake Relays. There will be colleges and universities representing 25 states including California (UC Riverside), Florida (Florida), New Hampshire (New Hampshire) and Utah (Utah). The University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, also is competing. Officials expect 7,851 athletes, representing 676 teams, will participate Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at Drake Stadium. Tyson, Jr. will take part in the University/College division long jump competition. He is one of just two Division III jumpers invited to participate in the event. Thus far on the outdoor track, Tyson, Jr. has claimed the long jump championship in his last three consecutive outings, after successfully defending his Indoor National Championship in the beginning of March. For the season, Tyson Jr.’s longest jump is 23’4.5” which is recorded at the Division I UNC-Charlotte 49er Open March 16-17. His leap earned him a fourth place finish.
