Higginbotham Garners Second OAC Weekly Honor

Freshman Julius Higginbotham (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria) of the Heidelberg College men’s track and field team has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men’s Runner of the Week for the week of February 26, 2007. It is Higginbotham’s second OAC weekly award on the indoor season. He was honored as the OAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for the week of January 29, 2007.

Higginbotham won both the 55-meter dash (6.61) and 200-meter dash (23.43) at the Capital Invitational last weekend. He also leaped to a second place finish in the long jump behind Heidelberg’s National Champion Greg Tyson, Jr. (Lima, Ohio / Senior) with a jump of 22'3".

Higginbotham is set to participate in the OAC Championships hosted by Ohio Northern University March 2-3. Individually he will compete in the 55-meter dash, long jump and the triple jump. Entering the championships, Higginbotham ranks in the top-five in all three events.
