Men’s Tennis Picks Up Two More Victories

The Heidelberg College men’s tennis team extended its winning streak to three matches with a 7-2 win over Defiance College on Monday and a 9-0 victory over Hood College today in Hilton Head, S.C. Heidelberg currently stands at 3-1 overall on the year.

Earning two victories at sixth singles and improving his season record to 4-0 was Luke Florence (Tiffin, Ohio / Calvert). Florence won 6-2, 6-3 against Defiance and 6-0, 6-0 over Hood. Florence joined forces with Eric Guindon (Martinsville, Ohio / Wilmington) to win 8-1 and 8-0 over Defiance and Hood, respectively, at third doubles.

At second doubles, Ahmad Al-Turk (Sandusky, Ohio / Perkins) and Evan Fahning (Milan, Ohio / Edison) topped the Yellow Jackets 8-5 on Monday and returned today and blanked Hood 8-0.

Max Norris (Toledo, Ohio / Springfield) won 6-0, 6-0 against Defiance and 6-0, 6-2 over Hood at second singles. Guindon posted two victories at third singles. He won 6-1, 6-2 over Defiance and 6-0, 6-0 over Hood. Rounding out the list of victors against both Defiance and Hood was Al-Turk (6-1, 6-2 / 6-0, 6-1) and Fahning (6-2, 6-3 / 6-0, 6-0).

Paul Evans (Manchester, England / Holy Cross) and Norris teamed up at first singles and started the scoring at first doubles against Hood with an 8-0 win.
