Men’s Basketball Places Three On All-Conference Team The Heidelberg College men’s basketball team placed three players on the 2007 All-Ohio Athletic Conference Team. Junior Shawn Shriver (Bellevue, Ohio / Western Reserve) was named to the second team, while juniors Andrew Lemmon (Port Clinton, Ohio / Port Clinton) and Brian Schmidt (Hinckley, Ohio / Brunswick) each earned a nod on the honorable mention list.
Shriver, a 6-0 guard, is a two-time all-conference honoree, earning honorable mention accolades a season ago. He led the Berg on the year in scoring, pouring in 13.7 points a contest, while dishing out 58 assists and pocketing 25 steals. Shriver recorded double-digits in the scoring column in the final 14-straight contests on the year and currently has 957 career points.
Lemmon was a consistent force on both sides of the ball for Heidelberg in 2006-07. Offensively, Lemmon was tied for second in scoring (12.2), while pacing the team and standing second in the Ohio Athletic Conference in three-point field goal percentage (.505). Defensively, Lemmon led the team with 182 rebounds and was third in blocks with 15 and fourth in steals with 15.
Schmidt joins Lemmon as first-time all-conference selections. Schmidt finished the year standing fourth on the team in scoring with 12.0 points a game and second in rebounding at 6.5 boards a night. He led the team and the OAC, while ranking fourth in the nation, in field goal percentage at .656.
Heidelberg, under the guidance of fifth-year head coach Duane Sheldon, concluded the 2006-07 season with an overall record of 13-13 and finished sixth in the league standings with a 9-9 mark. The Berg made its first appearance in the OAC Tournament since the 2004 season, but fell short in the quarterfinal round at Baldwin-Wallace.
