Men's Basketball To Be Broadcasted On SportsTime Ohio The Heidelberg College men’s basketball game at John Carroll University on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 will be broadcasted on tape delay by SportsTime Ohio. The contest will air on Wednesday evening at 10:30 p.m. For those that want to attend the game, tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. Heidelberg won the first meeting between the two schools, 84-80, in Tiffin on January 10.
Heidelberg, under the direction of fifth-year head coach Duane Sheldon, currently sit one game out of first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference standings. The Berg, along with Ohio Northern University, boasts a conference mark of 9-5, while John Carroll and Capital University sit atop the conference with 10-4 records.
Overall Heidelberg owns a record of 13-8 with four games remaining on its regular season schedule. The Berg has five players averaging double figures led by sophomore Chad Szalay (Lorain, Ohio / Clearview) and junior Shawn Shriver (Bellevue, Ohio / Western Reserve) with 12.7 points a night. Also pouring in at least 12 points a game is Brian Schmidt (Hinckley, Ohio / Brunswick) (12.5) and Andrew Lemmon (Port Clinton, Ohio / Port Clinton) (12.1), while Ron Higgins (Vermilion, Ohio / Firelands) contributes 11.0 points a game. Lemmon and Higgins lead the way on the glass pulling down 7.2 and 6.2 rebounds a contest, respectively.
Controlling the offense is Matt Eberle (Grove City, Ohio / Central Crossing) with 53 assists, while the defense is led by Shriver with 24 steals and Higgins with 18 blocks. Eberle follows Shriver closely with 23 steals.
