Huron Natives Lead Heidelberg Football On Academic All-OAC List

Huron natives Lucas Bauer (Huron, Ohio / Huron) and Steve West (Huron, Ohio / Huron) of the Heidelberg College football team earned a nod on the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference Teams in 2006. Bauer was tabbed a member of the first team, while West earned honorable mention accolades. It is the first post season academic honor for both individuals.

Bauer, a sophomore wide receiver, owns a 3.65 grade point average while majoring in early childhood education. He finished third on the team with 326 receiving yards and 25 catches in 2006. Bauer also tallied two touchdowns on the year. He has started all 20 games he has appeared in over the course of his two years with the Berg.

West, an accounting major, boasts a cumulative gpa of 3.67. He has appeared at quarterback for Heidelberg in 26 games over the last three seasons. In 2006, West threw for 651 yards and four touchdowns. He completed 51-of-111 pass attempts. Not to be outdone, West was effective when forced out of the pocket, picking up 115 yards on the ground for the season.
