Roddy Named OAC Offensive Player Of The Week

Sophomore wide receiver Dawond Roddy (Sidney, Ohio / Sidney) of the Heidelberg College football team has been selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 11, 2006.

Roddy had a career outing across the board in the Berg's 48-34 setback at Oberlin in the season-opener on Saturday. He recorded 172 receiving yards on five catches, including three touchdowns. Roddy was just one touchdown shy of tying the single-game record. Overall, Roddy had touchdowns of 55, 39 and eight-yards.

Not to be outdone, Roddy racked up 112 kickoff return yards, which was highlighted by a 35-yard return that led to his 39-yard touchdown.

In just one game, Roddy has already surpassed his totals from a season ago. In his freshman campaign he played in all 10 games and compiled 113 yards on five catches for the year.

Heidelberg opens up OAC action at John Carroll Sept. 16 before hosting Capital Sept. 23 in the Berg’s home opener. Games are

slated for a 1:30 p.m. start.
