Heidelberg Football Coach Not Returning In '07

Heidelberg College Director of Athletics Jerry McDonald announced today that Head Football Coach Brian Cochran's contract will not be renewed at the end of the 2006 football season.

"I want to express my appreciation for Brian's dedication and commitment to Heidelberg's football program during his four years as head coach. His work ethic and passion for the game set a strong example for his players," McDonald said.

The search for Cochran's successor will begin immediately.

"We appreciate Brian's integrity and commitment to Heidelberg’s values," said President F. Dominic Dottavio.  "The college is committed to a quality intercollegiate experience for our student athletes in all 17 varsity sports."

Cochran became head coach in 2003. He came to Heidelberg from Ohio Northern University where he was defensive line coach. He was an assistant at Heidelberg from 1998-2001. He has spent 16 years in coaching since graduating from John Carroll University in 1990.

Heidelberg's record is 1-35 over the past four seasons. Heidelberg football competes in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
