Heidelberg Suffers OAC Road Loss At Baldwin-Wallace, 36-10 The Heidelberg College football team suffered a 36-10 setback to Baldwin-Wallace College today at The George Finnie Stadium in front of 4,775 fans. The win improves Baldwin-Wallace to 4-1overall on the year and 3-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Berg falls to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in league action. B-W opened the scoring at the 12:26 mark of the first quarter when Brandon Hedges scored on a one-yard run followed by a Adam Wilburn PAT. The Jacket's increased their advantage to 14-0 when Hedges scored on his second one-yard plunge at the 5:32 mark and Wilburn added his second PAT kick. In the second stanza, Heidelberg closed the gap to 14-7 following both a fumbled punt and a pass interference penalty by the hosts. The Student Princes capitalized when junior quarterback Steve West (Huron, Ohio / Huron) scored on a two-yard run and senior kicker Craig Smith (Rittman, Ohio / Rittman) kicked the PAT. Hedges added another score and Wilburn connected on a 25-yard field goal to give B-W a 23-7 lead at the intermission. In the third quarter, B-W increased its lead to 30-7 when Hedges scored his fourth rushing TD of the game from two yards out and Wilburn added the PAT kick. On the ensuing possession, Heidelberg put together an 11-play, 65-yard drive to set up a 34-yard field goal from Smith to cut the lead to 30-10. Highlighting the Berg’s 11-play drive was two 11-yard completions from Steve West to Dawond Roddy (Sidney, Ohio / Sidney) and Kenny Sims (Garfield Heights, Ohio / Garfield Heights. In the final stanza, B-W increased its advantage to 36-10 at the 9:03 mark on an 11-yard TD, but the PAT kick was missed. Offensively for Heidelberg, Branden Parker (Sidney, Ohio / Sidney) led the running game with 64 yards in 13 attempts. Starting quarterback Bryan Prorok (Baltimore, Ohio / Liberty Union) completed 4-of-12 passes for 89 yards and Steve West completed 5-of-11 passes for 50 yards. Sims led the Student Princes with four catches for 37 yards. Defensively, Brian West (Huron, Ohio / Huron) led the way with a game-high 14 tackles. For B-W, Hedges led the running game with 62 yards in 14 attempts with four TD’s. Mickey Mental completed 19-of-29 passes for 235 yards and one touchdown. Vinney Latessa had four receptions for 81 yards and a TD. Heidelberg returns to action against Otterbein at Frost-Kalnow Stadium, Oct. 14 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
