Dan Fossa Recognized For Efforts In The Weight Room Senior Dan Fossa (Stow, Ohio / Aurora) of the Heidelberg College football team has earned the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year Award.
The award recognizes student-athletes dedication to strength and conditioning and Fossa is one of 239 intercollegiate student-athletes from 165 schools to earn this honor. Fossa was selected by Heidelberg’s strength and conditioning coach Mike Vosburgh. The NSCA All-American Athlete of the Year Award is in its 28th year and is made possible by a grant from Power Systems, Inc., a Knoxville, Tenn. fitness product leader.
"Dan is one of the hardest workers on our team," said Vosburgh. "He is under sized for his position, but makes up for it through hard work and exceptional physical conditioning. One of the greatest things that can be said about him is that he is extremely coachable and leads through example." Fossa was a three-year starter on the defensive line for the Berg. He finished his career with 107 tackles and eight sacks.
The NSCA is a worldwide authority on strength and conditioning. It supports research based knowledge and its practical application to improve athletic performance and fitness. The NSCA was founded in 1978 and develops and presents information on strength training and conditioning practices, injury prevention and research findings.
