Heidelberg Falls Behind Early, Cannot Recover In Loss At Denison

The Heidelberg College baseball team gave up five runs in the first inning and could not recover in a 10-5 non-conference loss at Denison University tonight in Granville, Ohio. The loss drops the Berg to 14-5 overall, while Denison improves to 7-11.

Tonight’s contest was originally scheduled to be played at Peaceful Valley in Tiffin, but was changed due to unfavorable weather forecasts in the Tiffin area. Heidelberg and Denison are scheduled to play a home-and-home series this season; therefore the Berg will host Denison on April 30 to conclude the series.

Heidelberg finished with 13 hits compared to 12 by Denison. Leading the Berg offense was Jeremy Wentworth (Johnstown, Ohio / St. Charles) with a 3-for-5 outing to go along with a run scored, an RBI and a double. Also finishing with multiple hits was Jack Bault (Randolph, Ohio / Waterloo) and Tony Pawlowicz (Montpelier, Ohio / Montpelier) with two hits apiece.
