Four-Run First Sets Stage In 19-4 Win A four run first inning set the stage for an eventual 19-4 Heidelberg College baseball team victory over Franklin & Marshall. The game was played at Anderson Field on the campus of Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Ga. Heidelberg concluded its trip down south with an overall record of 9-3.
Heidelberg faces a week break before resuming action in Ohio against cross-town rival Tiffin University on March 23. Game is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m. at Peaceful Valley.
Heidelberg recorded a season-high 23 hits, including three home runs. Leading the way was Cody James (Belle Center, Ohio / Benjamin Local) and Tyler Tocco (Dublin, Ohio / Coffman) with 4-for-5 outings. James knocked in five runs, including three on a two-out double in the sixth inning. Tocco also scored four runs in the win.
Finishing with three hits on the day was Matt Decker (Maumee, Ohio / Springfield), Biagio Boytim (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) and Jack Bault (Randolph, Ohio / Waterloo). Bault scored three runs, while Boytim crossed home plate twice and belted a solo home run in the ninth inning.
Earning the win on the mound was sophomore left-hander David Paddock (Westerville, Ohio / North). Paddock pitched 7.0 innings, scattering five hits and gave up just three earned runs.
