Women's Basketball Picked To Finish Ninth In OAC Preseason Coaches Poll

According to a poll of league head coaches the Heidelberg College women's basketball team has been picked to finish ninth in the Ohio Athletic Conference in 2006-07.

Picked to top the field is Baldwin-Wallace with eight first place votes followed by Wilmington with two votes. Capital, the defending OAC Champion, stands third while Otterbein and Ohio Northern round out the top half of the preseason poll. Mount Union was tabbed sixth followed by John Carroll and Muskingum. Marietta was picked to follow the Berg in 10th.

Heidelberg is under the guidance of 19-year head coach Karen McConnell and returns nine letter winners, including four starters. Leading the way is all-conference performers Brittany Skolnicki (Lorain, Ohio / Clearview) and Amanda Campbell (Pataskala, Ohio / Watkins Memorial) as well as fellow starters Kyle Davison (Ravenna, Ohio / Hudson) and Ashley Hawley (Sullivan, Ohio / Black River).

Heidelberg made its 26-consecutive appearance in the OAC Tournament in 2005-06 and McConnell earned her 250th coaching victory, while claiming the Gallaudet Tournament Championship.
