Women’s Tennis Opens Up Year With 6-3 Win Over Bluffton

The Heidelberg College women's tennis team opened the new season with a 6-3 win over visiting Bluffton College at the Heidelberg Tennis Courts. The Berg improves to 1-0 on the year with the victory and has one remaining match scheduled on its fall slate.

Meghan Michaels (Fremont, Ohio / Fremont Ross) and Morgan Harrigan (Urbana, Ohio / Urbana) teamed up at first doubles and posted an 8-3 win to give Heidelberg an early advantage. Amanda Hanning (Galion, Ohio / Galion) and Tina Dodson (Clyde, Ohio / Clyde) picked up where they left off a season ago and dominated, 8-4, at second doubles to give the Berg a 2-1 lead heading into singles action.

Heidelberg was victories at first, second, third and fourth singles to earn the 6-3 win. Michaels posted a 6-3, 6-1 win at first singles, followed by a 6-1, 6-2 win at second singles by Hanning. Rounding out the scoring for the Berg was Harrigan (6-4, 4-6, 6-1) at third singles and Dodson (6-3, 3-6, 11-9) at fourth singles.

Heidelberg returns to action at Defiance College on Oct. 2, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
