Beebe Hurdled To New Heights At Drake Sophomore Cory Beebe (Medina, Ohio / Cloverleaf) of the Heidelberg College men’s track and field team hurdled to new heights in the 400-meter hurdles at the 98th Drake Relays hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Beebe crossed the finish line in a school record 52.16, which tops his own school record of 52.71. Beebe stood 15th in the final standings of the predominately Division I field.
Not only did Beebe set a new school record, but his time of 52.16 also sits atop all of Division III. Heading into the weekend, Beebe stood second in the nation with a time of 52.98.
Also competing at the Drake Relays was junior Greg Tyson, Jr. (Lima, Ohio / Lima Senior). Tyson, Jr. took part in the long jump and recorded a leap of 22’9.75”. College and universities from all four corners of the United States competed in the 98th running of the Drake Relays. Colleges and universities representing 25 states including California (UC Riverside), Florida (Florida), New Hampshire (New Hampshire) and Utah (Utah). The University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, all competed. Approximately 7,851 athletes, representing 676 teams, participated in the three-day event at Drake Stadium.
