Baseball Sweeps Three-Game Series With TU

The Heidelberg College baseball team concluded its three-game series with cross-town rival Tiffin University with a 22-13 victory. It was the third-straight victory over the Dragons for Heidelberg and its seventh-consecutive overall win. All three wins came on Tiffin's home field, Herninger Field. Heidelberg currently stands at 12-3 overall.

             

Heidelberg recorded 17 hits on the day. As a team, Heidelberg has finished with double figures in the hit column in six of its last seven outings. Leading the way was Alex Rutter (Bowling Green, Ohio / Bowling Green) and Matt Hille (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead) with three hits apiece. Rutter knocked in a team-high six runs, with three coming from a three-run home run to left field. L.B. Emrhein (Seven Hills, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) went 2-for-2 with five runs scored, two base on balls and one RBI, while Jeremy Wentworth (Johnstown, Ohio / St. Charles) and Tyler Tocco (Dublin, Ohio / Coffman) each finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI apiece.

             

Steve Calevro (Perrysburg, Ohio / Perrysburg) pitched 3.0 innings in relief and earned the win on the mound. Calevro gave up two hits and one unearned run, while striking out two. The win improved Calevro to 4-0 on the year. Assisting in the win on the mound for Calevro was sophomore T.J. Grof (Oak Harbor, Ohio / Oak Harbor). Grof pitched the eighth inning and gave up no runs.
