Women’s Tennis Opens Action In Hilton Head Victorious

The Heidelberg College women’s tennis team opened action in Hilton Head, S.C. with a 6-3 victory over Hood College. The win improves the Berg to 2-1 on the year.

Getting the scoring going for Heidelberg early was Meghan Michaels (Fremont, Ohio / Fremont Ross) and Morgan Harrigan (Urbana, Ohio / Urbana) with an 8-3 win at first doubles. At second doubles Amanda Hanning (Galion, Ohio / Galion) and Tina Dodson (Clyde, Ohio / Clyde) joined forces for an 8-4 victory.

Micheals and Hanning won 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) and 6-0, 6-1 at first and second singles, respectively. Earning a victory at fourth singles was Dodson, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Dawn Neumeyer (Parma, Ohio / Parma) rounded out the scoring for the Berg with a 6-4, 6-2 win at fifth doubles.

Heidelberg returns to action against Spring Arbor on March 13. Match is slated to begin at 8:00 a.m.
