Subject: Trip Report - Fallen Timbers Battlefield, October 5-7, 1993


PURPOSE:

We traveled to the Toledo area to inspect the Fallen Timbers Battlefield and the related sites of Fort Meigs and Fort Miamis. The National Park Service (NPS) has been asked to evaluate these sites for possible addition to the National Park System. Two of the three sites are national historic landmarks (NHL).

We were met in Toledo by Rory Robinson of the Ohio Field Office of the Rivers and Trails Conservation Assistance Division, Midwest Region. During our three-day visit, we met with Jean Ward and Denise Gehring of the Toledo Metroparks; William Schultz, Larry Nelson of the Ohio Historical Society; Maura Johnson and Franco Ruffini of the Ohio Historical Preservation Office; Mike Pratt of Heidelberg College; Ted Ligibel of Eastern Michigan University and the Maumee Valley Heritage Corridor, Inc.; and Mayor Steve Pauken of Maumee.
