Re: Fallen Timbers Battlefield
Dear Mayor Pauken:
Thank you for the copy of your letter dated September 16, 1996 to Mayor Finkbeiner regarding the Fallen Timbers Battlefield property. Apparently there is a misunderstanding of our prior conversation. I would like to clarify the record wherein you stated The Isaac Group indicated we "would be willing to drop its right of first refusal on this acreage (the 180 acres) as long as it is protected by the National Park Service and no longer available for potential retail development in the area adjacent to their option."
I stated to you that we would be supportive of a set aside of 10-15 acres of land to recognize the historical significance of this site but believe the remainder of this parcel should be developed in a commercially compatible manner. I did not state that we had any interest in dropping our right of first refusal on the balance of the land. If the proposed mixed use commercial development does proceed on the west side of Jerome Road, we would have a continuing interest in this property. As you probably are aware, upon payment of the option extension fee in November 1996, we will have paid a total of $500,000 in option fees to the City of Toledo.
I hope the above explanation clarifies our position.
Sincerely,
[signature]
L.A. Isaac
